In this post, I am going to share with you some of CommerceHQ’s best apps to be used specifically for social proofs so that you, too, can have the confidence to entice people into buying your own products and therefore make tons of profit, without the hassle.

But first, what even is a social proof?!

What is a Social Proof?

Social proof, a term coined by Robert Cialdini in his 1984 book, Influence, is also known as informational social influence. It describes a psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others in an attempt to undertake behavior in a given situation.

Social proof is considered prominent in ambiguous social situations where people are unable to determine the appropriate mode of behavior, and is driven by the assumption that the surrounding people possess more knowledge about the current situation.


You might be seeing a lot of psychology-specific jargon in our definition, but what it is basically trying to imply is that social proofs are proof that an individual has already performed a certain activity, and this occurrence can be used by others as reference when they try to do the same.

So in terms of eCommerce and dropshipping, we can call previous purchases from our store and customer reviews as social proof in an attempt to convince other people into buying from our store as well. We are breaking negative theories about us because we can show the world that there are indeed people who have experienced firsthand our services!

What Social Proof Can Do

It’s hard enough to establish a strong foundation and a reputable online presence for your online store; what more when it comes to actually letting people know that you are a trustworthy brand? It’s not like your customers will simply agree when you say that you can trust them; you need to have someone purchase off of your store and have them share their thoughts and experiences with your services.

With enough social proof, we can actually prove our authenticity and legitimacy without having to explain ourselves to new or potential customers, because the prior ones will do that for us. Normally, people would purchase products that already have positive reviews, especially when buying products off of online marketplaces, because they have references on what the actual product would look and feel like the moment it arrives on their doorsteps.

Number two: once customers see that a lot of people are already enjoying the product, they might also want to join the hype and have a piece of it for themselves. In a way, social proof psychologically entices customers into buying a product simply because other people find it to be interesting, thus triggering their curiosity.

Setting Up Social Proof Apps in CommerceHQ

As promised, I am going to show you some of CommerceHQ’s features that will allow you to display social proof to your websites, so that you, too, can hook more people into your brand and products and therefore make you more money.

Obviously, the first app that we are going to discuss is the Reviews, but we are not going to go too deep into this topic, simply because I have done a whole separate video on how you can setup Reviews on your own store using CommerceHQ. Instead, I am going to show you here how it should look like when you implement it on your own online store.

Scrolling down the product page, you and website visitors can see admin-approved reviews, either from verified or unverified buyers. Also included are star ratings, a few comments made by the original poster, and even photo or video attachments to increase the potential impact that it could make on your visitors.

New or recent purchasers can also post their own reviews by clicking the Write a Review button, which is readily available and can be easily located near the Reviews section of the page.

At the end of the day, we are trying to normalize the idea that it is okay to buy from our store, and the people that have bought from us are happy with their purchases and our services. These facts should be enough for potential customers to convert into buying ones.

Recent Purchase Notifications

To setup Recent Purchase Notifications on your own CommerceHQ store, click on the App Store > Recent Purchase Notifications > Install now > Configure. On the next window, you would have to edit the following according to your preferences:

  • Rotate all purchase data from last;
  • Delay first notification; and
  • Time interval between notifications.

Watch the full video to learn each of the aforementioned items’ purposes and functions. What the Recent Purchase Notifications app do is when a customer lands on a product page, a notification will pop up, and it says that someone from a certain state recently bought that product within a specific time period.

Basically, the Recent Purchase Notifications app records past transactions for a specific product, and with the definition of social proof (psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others in an attempt to undertake behavior in a given situation), potential customers might just as well make a purchase — once they see that a lot of recent purchases have been made, there is a good chance that they would want to join in the hype and become a part of a community that gets to enjoy a specific product from your store.


I did an A/B test and compared how my own website would perform under two different situations: (1) with Recent Purchase Notifications turned on, and (2) without using said app.

Notice how the first variation (ORIGINAL) has a higher conversion rate showing the recent Purchase Notifications App. Social proof WORKS!

Yep, social proof is 100% legit, and will definitely allow you to make more money, and you do not even have to do much. All that is actually left for you to do is to cater to each and every one of your customers’ wants and needs — the rest will depend on their final feedback on your services, but if it comes out positive, trust me, you will have free (and highly effective, if I might add) advertising for days!
