It got me thinking... and so I asked my girlfriend about her thoughts and how she sees me as to how I juggle work and life. I firmly believe that the only way for you to truly know who you are is to have other people point out what you cannot see in you.

So, let's get down to business (life, but you know what I mean). In this post, i interview my girlfriend about her perspective in terms of me running my business while I try to live my life.

Is Dropshipping Taking Over My Life?!

As a business owner and manager, you should know that it is very easy for you to get sucked into your business, especially when you reach peak performance and start processing tons of orders each day. And believe me when I say that it is very difficult to realize how much more time you are spending on your business as compared to just living life to the fullest.

Personally, I have had a few incidents wherein I choose to not enjoy having time for my friends and relationships because I want to run and optimize my ads, experiment around my website and even creating informative content for you.

But of course, I wouldn't be able to realize this without the help of my girlfriend, Maddie. We have been together for more than a year now; she knows me quite well, and so I took the opportunity to interview her with regards of how well I am juggling my work, life and relationships.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy a bit of a Q&A; who knows? Maybe you'll even get to know yourself a little better and see how well you can manage all of your day-to-day tasks and still have time for the more important aspects of life!

Question 1

What's one time that you've seen my business affect me -- what was happening with my business, and how did I act? How did that affect my daily routine?

"Your ads were not going well (and my ad account was disabled, to top that off)."

According to Maddie, this problem affected my mindset in general, and that I was struggling with whether I was willing to have a work-life balance. The thing is, we as dropshippers work hard to create the perfectly converting store, but work even harder when things don't go the way we expect them to. We have a tendency to stress over even the littlest errors, especially because we know that unless they are fixed, more and more problems will only come our way.

Question 2

How much more time do you reckon I spend in front of the computer when things aren't going right?

"I would message you at around 9 o'clock at night and you were still kind of stressing out, unable to sleep, still working. I'd wake up at 4 and find you; you would still be in front of your computer."

There exists an illusion with the business model, that dropshipping is practically easy; you just need to setup your store, make money and have all the time in the world for all your leisures. But the reality is, there is an enormous amount of work that we need to do just to be able to achieve the results that we want to see. And even after the website creation process, we still need to actively run and manage every single element of our business to make it profitable. Moreover, when things don't go so well, our work just completely consumes us, rendering us unable to perform any other tasks.

We are so focused on resolving issues that there are times when we would forget to take care of ourselves, and this is probably the worst mistake you could ever make. Yes, our business is all about making money, but what is the actual use if, eventually, you are going to use all of your profits to pay for your medical bills, and even make the people around you worry about your well-being?

We also lose track of our routines and ultimately lose the time that we used to spend on things that we actually enjoy doing.

Question 3

What are your thoughts about the work-from-home setup?

"'I got to go to work at 10:00 and finish at 7:00,' yeah, but your home and your office is the same place; it's very easy to never shut off because you're not actually closing the door on it."

Everyone wants to have a consistent schedule, most especially those who are working from home. What most people don't see is that we struggle with trying to actually separate work from home because the bed is so close to the computer. We think that we are able to freely manage our time, but its very essence is the real reason why it is so hard to focus on work.

Question 4

Am I still dateable?

"Definitely!"

(sweet)

Let's Wrap It Up!

Maddie and I hope that you enjoyed this simple Q&A, got a little bit of information and got to know yourself a little better. If you aren't aware yet, dropshipping might be slowly consuming you!!!

Take little breaks and remember to breathe; focusing on other tasks and relaxing can actually help you become more productive on your actual work, so be sure to not beat yourself up too much and take care of yourself more.
