Google Analytics is a nifty tool that you can use for your dropshipping store at no additional cost. It is one of those softwares that are readily available to anyone but are highly underappreciated. Did you know that most successful online businesses greatly utilize Google Analytics to better understand their customers? How do they do it, and what can Google Analytics offer to those who are willing to test out its power?

Let us begin by defining what Google Analytics is and what it can do for your business.

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics gives you the free tools you need to analyze data for your business in one place, so you can make smarter decisions.

Google Analytics

At a glance, Google Analytics helps you better understand your customers. It provides the tools that you will need to monitor their activities upon landing to your website, and therefore useful insights on which elements you need to improve or modify. After all, excellent user feedbacks are vital to your brand’s success.

So, why should you use Google Analytics for your business?

Why Use Google Analytics?

First of all, Google Analytics is free to use, so there is no real reason why you should not use it for your dropshipping business. But the main reason why you should utilize it is because it allows you to track user activity real-time. This means, when a customer visits your website, you can instantly see various useful information such as the device being used, their current location, your most frequently viewed page and/or product, and more. So, why would you need these details in the first place?

Of course, optimizing your website for all devices should be mandatory. However, knowing how many of your visitors are using mobile phones, tablets or desktop computers when visiting your website can give you an idea on which one you should prioritize. So let’s say you found out that a great majority of your users are using mobile phones. That information should be treated as a go signal for you to monitor your website on a phone’s perspective and make necessary changes to ensure your customers the best viewing experience.

When you know where your customers are coming from, you get to save more by focusing your ads on audiences on that certain area, instead of trying to expand your reach to places where your brand or niche might be unheard of in the first place.

And what about knowing what your best selling product is? Of course, that would mean maximum effort for it! Now you know what ads you should be making and which item you should advertise the most.

You don’t know what information you want to know until you need it. Basically, with Google Analytics, you will know what aspects you should be investing more of your time and energy on, thus allowing you to take more money home!

Setting up Google Analytics in CommerceHQ

As earlier mentioned, you don’t have to spend a single cent to be able to use Google Analytics. The first step to connecting your CommerceHQ store to the platform is to make sure that you are signed in to Google using your store’s account. Then, click through this link and sign up to Analytics. You will see the screen below:

Fill in the required information and click on Get Tracking ID. Afterwards, you’ll see the page below with your tracking ID and a short code:

Copy the code; go to your CommerceHQ dashboard, click on Store Setup > General Settings, go to Header Include Code and paste. Click Save, and now you can already start tracking your store’s statistics on real time!

The next time a customer lands on your website, you can track down the page he or she is currently viewing, what product/s they are adding to their cart, and more.

BONUS: Advanced Google Analytics

Over at Google Analytics you can also track down your email campaigns’ performances. Every email that you send using your email automation software is part of a campaign that gets pulled into Google Analytics. Below is an example:

On this screen you can see my email campaigns (names blurred, though) together with other useful information such as conversion rates and total revenue. To add this feature to Google Analytics for your own business, go to your CommerceHQ dashboard and click Store Setup > Pixels > Add My First Tracking Pixel and type in the code shown below on the Pixel code field:

You might want to put this code on your Thank You page for when a customer successfully makes a purchase. Click Save, and now, when you get an order in CommerceHQ, it sends that data into Google Analytics, and by doing that, you will be able to track your eCommerce conversion rate and revenue.

Let’s Wrap It Up!

Google Analytics is indeed a powerful tool that can help you retarget your resources to the more important aspects of your business. The best part of all this is it’s free to use, so there’s no real reason why you shouldn’t utilize it.Don’t waste any more time; link it to your CommerceHQ store and stay one step ahead of your competitors.
